For while the rest of the world embraces the technology – citing various sustainability benefits from fewer pesticides to less tilling – Europe, at large, continues to deride it. It seemed apt that the Footprint Forum to discuss the sensitive issue of genetically modified (GM) crops took place in a secure room deep within the United States embassy in London. In true Footprint Forum style the event was rounded off with a dynamic networking session where lively debate continued into the evening. This was followed by an interactive panel discussion. The objective of this session was to remove polarised subjectivity from the debate and frame the issue of genetically modified foods in the context of sustainability and sustainable supply chains.įootprint Forum was privileged to welcome Jack Bobo, Senior Advisor on Biotechnology to John Kerry and Professor Ian Crute, Chief Scientist of Agriculture & Horticulture Development Board as keynote speakers.
